Gross-motor, fine-motor, language and social milestones from 3 months to 3 years with the referral red-flag ages.

Read the four streams in parallel
Development runs in four channels at once — gross motor, fine motor, language and social/adaptive. Assess all four; a delay in one stream with the others intact points to a specific problem (e.g. isolated motor delay → cerebral palsy; isolated language/social → hearing loss or autism).

Handy hooks
- Cube tower ≈ age: 3 cubes at 18 mo, 6 at 2 yr, 9 at 3 yr.
- Drawing: copies a circle at 3 yr, cross at 4, square at 4½, triangle at 5.
- Stairs: with help at 18 mo, both feet per step at 2 yr, alternating feet at 3 yr.
Red flags — refer at these ages

Trap: always correct for prematurity up to 2 years before labelling a delay. And hand preference before 12–18 months is a red flag — it may signal a contralateral hemiplegia.
Anchor: four streams, not one — and any regression, or no words/babble by 18 months, is a referral, not a "wait and watch".
